Terms of Sale and Use
Last updated: 21 October 2026
This is a translation. The Norwegian (Bokmål) version applies in case of any conflict.
These terms apply when you buy books, get the free first chapter or use the Live Art gallery on the-key.no. As a consumer you always have the rights that follow from Norwegian law, including the Consumer Purchases Act (forbrukerkjøpsloven), the Cancellation Act (angrerettloven) and the Act on Digital Content and Services for consumers (digitalytelsesloven). Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
1. Who you are dealing with
- Online shop: the-key.no
- Email (customer service): [email protected]
- Seller: Amund Mortensen, a private individual. No organisation number is registered.
"We" means the seller above. "You" means the customer.
2. Products and prices
| Product | Price | Delivery |
|---|---|---|
| E-book (PDF) | NOK 199 | Download link on the confirmation page and by email |
| Hardcover book | NOK 599 | Shipped to the address you provide |
All prices are stated in Norwegian kroner. Seller is not VAT registered.
Shipping for the hardcover: The shipping cost, the countries we deliver to and the expected delivery time are shown before you pay. The total price, including shipping, is always shown at checkout before you pay.
3. Payment and currency
Payment is made via Stripe Checkout. We do not receive your card details. The amount is charged when the purchase is completed.
Stripe may show the price in your local currency. In that case Stripe sets the exchange rate, and the price may include a currency conversion fee from Stripe. The amount shown at checkout is the amount you are charged. If you pay in Norwegian kroner, your bank may charge its own currency fees.
4. Ordering and order confirmation
- Choose a product on the website.
- The checkout (Stripe Checkout) opens on the page. There you enter your email, payment details and – for the hardcover – shipping address. When buying an e-book, you first tick the consent box described in section 5.3.
- The contract is concluded when the payment is approved.
- You receive an order confirmation and receipt by email. For the hardcover, the order confirmation also contains information about the right of withdrawal and the cancellation form (see the appendix below).
Contact us immediately if anything in the order confirmation is wrong.
5. E-book
5.1 Delivery and format
The e-book is delivered as a PDF via a download link immediately after payment, both on the confirmation page and by email. The link is personal, valid for 14 days and can be used 3 times. If the link does not work or has expired, contact us and we will send a new one.
5.2 Licence
You receive a personal, non-exclusive right to read the e-book for your own use on your own devices. You may not copy, share, sell, upload or otherwise make the e-book available to others. Copyright belongs to the author.
5.3 Right of withdrawal for the e-book
Before you can pay for an e-book, you must actively tick a box confirming that you consent to the e-book being delivered immediately and that you acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal. The box is not pre-ticked. Your consent is recorded with the order, and we confirm it in the order confirmation. You therefore have no right of withdrawal for the e-book (Cancellation Act section 22(n)).
If such consent and acknowledgement has not been obtained, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date the contract was concluded, and you will not have to pay for the e-book if you withdraw (Cancellation Act section 26, second paragraph, point (c)).
Your right to complain about defects applies in any case, see section 7.
6. Hardcover book
6.1 Delivery
The book is shipped to the address you provide at checkout. The countries we deliver to, the shipping method, the shipping cost and the expected delivery time are shown before you pay.
Unless otherwise agreed, we deliver without undue delay and no later than 30 days after the contract is concluded (Consumer Purchases Act section 6). In case of delay you may, among other things, demand delivery, cancel the purchase or claim damages under the Consumer Purchases Act.
For deliveries outside Norway, customs duties, VAT and fees may be charged in the destination country. Such costs are stated before you pay.
Risk for the book passes to you when you, or someone you have designated, have received it (Consumer Purchases Act section 14).
6.2 Right of withdrawal (14 days)
You have a 14-day right of withdrawal. The period runs from the day after you received the book (Cancellation Act sections 20–21).
How to withdraw: Notify us within the deadline, either by using the cancellation form included with the order confirmation (and shown at the bottom of this page), or by any other unequivocal statement, e.g. an email to [email protected]. It is enough that you send the notice before the deadline expires.
Return: Once you have notified us, we will give you the return address. Send the book back without undue delay and no later than 14 days after notifying us. Who pays for return shipping is stated before you pay. You are liable for any reduction in value caused by handling the book more than necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning.
Refund: We refund everything you have paid, including standard shipping costs, no later than 14 days after we received your notice of withdrawal. We may withhold the refund until we have received the book or you have provided proof that it has been sent. The refund is made to the same payment method you used.
7. Complaints about defects
- Hardcover: If the book has a defect (e.g. printing errors, damage in transit), you can complain. Notify us within a reasonable time after you discovered the defect, and no later than 2 years after you received the book (Consumer Purchases Act section 27). You may then be entitled to a new book, a price reduction, cancellation or damages under the law.
- E-book: If the file is damaged, cannot be opened or does not match what was promised, you can complain under the Act on Digital Content and Services (digitalytelsesloven). Notify us within a reasonable time after you discovered the defect. We will normally remedy the defect by delivering a working file.
Complaints should be sent to [email protected].
8. Free first chapter
- You can get the first chapter free by entering your email address and ticking the consent box. The consent covers both sending you the chapter and occasionally sending you news about the book.
- You receive a personal download link that is valid for 30 days and for a maximum of 5 downloads.
- You can unsubscribe from news at any time via the link in every email.
- The chapter is for personal use and is covered by the same licence as the e-book (section 5.2).
See the privacy policy for how we process your email address.
9. Live Art account (the gallery)
Creating an account: You can create an account with email and password or sign in with Google. You must provide correct information and be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you need consent from a parent or guardian to buy or subscribe.
Password: You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for activity on your account. Let us know immediately if you suspect misuse.
Acceptable use: You must not:
- break the law or infringe the rights of others, including copyright and privacy,
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to, overload or disrupt the service,
- use automated tools to extract content on a large scale.
Content in the gallery: The works in the gallery are created by the artist and are protected by copyright. They may not be copied or used without permission.
Deletion: You can ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing [email protected].
Suspension: We may suspend or delete accounts used in breach of these terms or the law. For less serious breaches we will notify you first.
Creating an account is free. For paid subscriptions (Live Art), the price and terms are shown before you pay; you can cancel at any time, and access lasts until the end of the period you have paid for. We may change or discontinue the gallery; if so, we will give reasonable notice.
10. Copyright
Text, books, images, design and other content on the-key.no are protected by copyright and belong to the author or other rights holders. You may not copy or use the content beyond private use and what the law permits without written permission.
11. Liability
We do our best to keep the website available and error-free, but cannot guarantee that it will always work without interruption. We are not liable for indirect losses resulting from use of the website, to the extent permitted by law.
This limitation does not apply to your mandatory rights as a consumer under, among others, the Consumer Purchases Act, the Cancellation Act and the Act on Digital Content and Services.
12. Complaints and disputes
Please contact us first at [email protected] and we will try to find a solution.
If we cannot agree, you can contact the Norwegian Consumer Council (Forbrukerrådet) for mediation (forbrukerradet.no). Cases not resolved there can be brought before the Consumer Complaints Board (Forbrukerklageutvalget).
The contract is governed by Norwegian law. If you live in another country, you do not lose the protection you have under the mandatory consumer rules of the country where you live. Disputes may be brought before the ordinary courts; as a consumer you can always sue and be sued in your home country.
13. Language
These terms are available in Norwegian and in translations into the other languages the website offers. In case of conflict, the Norwegian version applies.
14. Changes
We may change these terms. Changes do not apply to purchases already completed; such purchases are governed by the terms in force when you bought. For Live Art accounts we will give reasonable notice of material changes before they take effect.
Appendix: Cancellation form
For purchases of goods and services that are not financial services. Complete and return this form if you wish to withdraw from the contract.
